We are so excited to introduce Wren II, the newest puppy with Collar Scholars at CSU! Wren is a six month old male yellow lab-golden cross, born to Emmy and Guthrie. Wren will be spending the remainder of his journey with his new raisers, Kali and Peter. Wren is the first puppy Peter has raised and he is the 4th puppy Kali has raised. We are so excited to support this team through their puppy raising journey! Welcome, Mr Wren and congratulations, Kali and Peter!💙

Collar Scholars at CSU wishes the best of luck to Windsor in professional training! Windsor and her raisers, Ally and Kali celebrated her matriculation into professional training on Friday, as she begins her next step in her journey to become a service dog. Windsor will now spend the next 6-9 months at the Canine Companions campus learning skills to help her become a successful service dog. We will miss Windsor but can’t wait to see what the future holds for her!

“Coming out of prison, it’s been nothing short of magical to watch Windsor experience the world with fresh eyes. You can see her mind working as she takes in the world around her. There’s something incredibly moving about seeing her delight in things we take for granted. Everything is new, everything is wondrous, and she meets it all with a wagging tail.

Winnie is always easygoing and the ultimate cuddle buddy. She loves playing fetch, making new friends, snuggling, and simply existing in the moment. Winnie soaks in every part of life. Every sight, sound, and smell is an opportunity for joy. She’s not always the most ladylike, but as her prison raiser once said, she is Lady Windsor and must be treated as such.

She brings happiness wherever she goes. She has a way of making you feel loved and special just by being near. Whether it’s a stranger on the street or someone lucky enough to spend time with her, Windsor leaves a joyful impression on every heart she touches.

It’s bittersweet to let her go, but we do so with pride, gratitude, and so much love. She was never just ours, she was always meant for something greater. Winnie, Lady Windsor, you will go on to do amazing things. Thank you for everything. You’ve changed our lives, and now you’ll go on to change someone else’s.

Last night was our last open training class of the semester. During class, handlers practiced various cues with the puppies. The puppies also got to experience new surfaces and different distractions. Thank you to everyone who joined us! 🐾

We worked on some basic handling and then we took a group trip to Chipotle. On the way, the puppies practiced proper stair etiquette, loose leash walking and ignoring distractions. 75% labrador, 25% golden retriever, 100% pure love. It’s with immense joy and a twinge of sadness that we bid farewell to Filly VII as she returns to professional training. Her joyful, goofy disposition is sure to bring happiness wherever she goes. Her eager willingness to learn will only serve her well as she embarks on this next step in her service dog journey.

Filly’s favorite things are… well, everything. Toys, people, food, running, playing, walking, working, snuggling, kids, swimming. It’s all the best in the eyes of this pup. Her nicknames include Cheesesteak, Floppagus, and Floppopotomus.

She’s spent snowy winters with her co-raiser, Pamela Howe, in Granby. She’s spent summers swimming in the lake and sunning on the boat. She’s joined Collar Scholars on adventures. And she even welcomed a newborn baby into the world. She’s befriended people, dogs, horses, and chickens.

It’s been such an honor to know and love, Flop! I know you’ll do great things!!

All the money raised will go directly towards supporting our puppy raisers. We hope everyone can join us for crafts, pictures, and puppies! ❤️ 🐾

Last night we had our first open training class of the semester. Members got to work on various cues with the puppies and then we played tic-tac-toe with the puppies. Thank you to everyone who joined us. If you want to handle at our next open class, fill out the sitter interest form in our bio. 🐾

We are so excited to introduce Antonia I, the newest puppy with Collar Scholars at CSU! Antonia is a nine month old female black labrador retriever, born to Dana and Albert. Antonia spent the first seven months of her journey with a raiser at the FCI Phoenix prison puppy raising program, and will spend the remainder of her journey with her raiser, Lauren. Antonia is the first puppy she has raised. We are so excited to support this team and be part of their journey. Welcome, Antonia and congratulations, Lauren!

Anderson enjoyed time with his sitters and got to play with Ross, another Canine Companions puppy. He also loved the fresh snow in Fort Collins!

Soho had a wonderful break! She got to hang out with so many new friends and found some comfy sleeping spots! We attended multiple puppy classes and outings to get ready for classes this upcoming semester, and she is pleased to be reunited with both of her raisers:)

Aribella has been going on walks, watching pickleball and taking so many naps.

Cannoli has been busy soaking in winter and all the snow time! She has spent most of break in the mountains, playing fetch, hiking, and napping! Noli has gotten to spend some time with some amazing sitters while I work, and is working on getting ready for spring semester! We can’t wait to see all our Collar Scholars friends soon!

We are so excited to announce that Collar Scholars at CSU alumni True III has graduated as a Hearing Dog. On Friday, True’s puppy raiser, Jessica Lalone, handed over her leash to her forever person. We are so proud of Jess and True for this amazing achievement! 💙🐾
