Get Involved!
There are many ways to get involved! Check out the roles below to find involvement that is a good fit for you!
Puppy Raiser
Puppy raisers are the most crucial members in the journey of a Canine Companions puppy through our program. They receive a puppy at 8 weeks of age and teach it 30+ basic commands before the age of 18 months. At 18 months the puppy is returned to Canine Companions in California for Advanced Training and to hopefully get matched and graduate as a service dog.

Puppy raisers are fully financially responsible for all aspects of the puppy in their care, although many resources exist, such as our raiser pantry, Pawsible, and other raisers around the country.

For more information and/or to start the application process, please fill out the Raiser Interest Form and the Email List Form on the Forms and Pantry page.

Puppy Sitter
Puppy sitters provide much-needed support to our puppy raisers. They take care of our pups for a few hours up to a few days when raisers are unable to take the pups somewhere or when the pups need a change of routine.

Puppy sitters can take the pup to classes and on outings with permission of the raiser, and have access to all CSU buildings except for labs and any CSU dorms.

For more information and/or to start the application process, please fill out the Sitter Interest Form and the Email List Form on the Forms and Pantry page.
General and Associate Members
General members are welcome at all open training classes, general meetings, and events. To access special events such as toy making, and Halloween parties, members must pay dues and complete club requirements, which will be announced at the start of the school year. Check out the calendar on the "Upcoming Events" page for our schedule for the semester.
